A building’s lighting performance includes both electrical and solar light sources within a space and affects everything from comfort and safety, to energy costs and user productivity. Lighting is typically expected to be within a certain range of lumens (intensity) and quality for a given space and task. Ideal lighting design typically involves balancing light sources, costs, quality, and heat gains while avoiding issues of glare and over- or under-lit areas.

Extech’s DT60M measures distance up to 196ft (60m). It can calculate area and volume and the integrated Pythagorean Theorem allows the user to take indirect measurements. Other features include continuous measurement with Min/Max distance tracking, 20 point memory, addition/subtraction of sequential readings, front or rear edge reference, and a Stakeout function. Large quad backlit LCD display and double molded housing. It also has a handy built-in bubble level and comes with a wrist strap.

The user calibration function allows the meter to be calibrated to a user-selected standard instead of the preset Konica Minolta standard; this function can be used to standardize the response of several meters.
