Since 2004, the IDL has has the pleasure of working on over two hundred buildings projects with teams in the Intermountain West as well as nationally and internationally, all targeting energy efficiency improvements in the built environment. This page provides access to selected project reports generated during the design process.

Vocational Technical Building

The IDL aided CTA in performing luminance, illuminance, and glare analyses for their proposed design of the College of Southern Idaho Technical Vocational Buildings in Twin Falls, Idaho. This included changes in glazing to wall ratios and light diffusion devices. The following document presents the process and results achieved.

Caldwell Elementary Schools

The IDL worked with LKV and McKinstry to support site design, daylighting design and solar shading analysis for the first two LEED schools in Idaho.

We looked at the existing solar control devices used in the design development of the Caldwell Elementary Schools and determined appropriate design guidelines and suggestions.

Priorities for the two schools are to minimize heat gain during peak cooling periods and to minimize glare within the classrooms and offices.

St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center

The IDL teamed with Solarc Architecture and Engineering to provide SARMC with guidance on the energy efficiency renovation of their 450,000 SF South Tower. The report shows a pathway to more than 40% energy savings.
