Ground Source Heat Pump Systems

Earlier this month the Department of Energy announced nearly $50 Million in stimulus money for Ground Source Heat Pump (GHP) research and demonstration projects. These Heat Pumps harvest the majority of their heating energy from “phase delayed solar energy” (e.g. solar heat stored in the earth for several months) and is now classified as a renewable energy for the first time by the Federal Government (DOE‐1).

LED’s brighten Boise business

Boise lighting technology design firm looks locally for new production. SemiLEDs Corp. is a Boise based company that could partner with Micron to begin producing Light Emitting Diodes or LED’s as there commonly known. SemiLEDs currently produces its components in Taiwan, but may put to use some of Microns idle production capacity.

Architectural applications for LED or Light Emitting Diode technology, has finally made its way to the hands of commercial and residential consumers. The LED has long been touted as the next step in the evolution of lighting.
Recently several manufacturers have released products that meet strict Energy Star requirements for efficiency, longevity, and lighting quality.

Energy efficient technologies used in Wal-Mart stores can be adapted for Idaho

Wal-Mart – love it or hate it – is lighting the way for energy efficient big-box stores.
In 2005 the retail giant built two new U.S. stores designed to reduce the amount of energy and natural resources required for operation and maintenance. Several technologies tested in these stores can be adapted for big-box stores in Idaho.
