The Passive House concept represents today's highest energy standard with the promise of slashing the heating energy consumption of buildings by an amazing 90%, while avoiding the high capital costs of photovoltaic panels. Alison Kwok, University of Oregon Professor and national Passive House board member and Blake Bilyeu a Passive House builder, team up to provide you an overview of the Passive House program and a casestudy view of the strategies used to build a home in Oregon. Alison will provide an overview of the Passive House concept and the work that is being done nationally. Blake has an engrossing presentation on the home he built that will help you understand the application of the Passive House principles. The session comes complete with lessons learned from the field. Those interested in the potential for residential design and construction should plan to attend.
